Where to find the file in TuneCore

In your TuneCore account go to Money & Analytics → Sales Report and use "Download Monthly Sales Reports" (or "Download This Report" from a filtered sales view). Monthly files follow the naming convention tunecore-musicsales-<reporting_period>.csv. Payout amounts are always settled to USD in the final columns, whatever currency the store reported in.

The 21-column layout, documented

10	UPC	TuneCore-generated UPC.
11	Optional UPC	Your own UPC, if you supplied one.
12	TC Song ID	TuneCore-generated song ID.
13	Optional ISRC	Your own ISRC, if you supplied one.
14	Sales Type	Download or Stream — the split every analysis wants first.
15	# Units Sold	Units in a reporting day, as reported by the store.
16	Per Unit Price	Price of one unit in the store country's currency.

Since July 2023 postings, YouTube Content ID revenue is merged into the YouTube store rows and adds three columns that stay blank for every other store: Video ID, Commission Rate and Policy Type. Rows with values there are Content ID revenue, and fields that do not apply to Content ID (Optional UPC, Optional ISRC) are left blank on those rows.

Why some rows are negative

A negative Net Sales value is usually a Spotify Discovery Mode commission — the promotional discount clawed back against the streams it generated. These are genuine earnings adjustments, not errors, and the converter keeps them as signed amounts so your totals reflect what you were actually paid. Two other quirks worth knowing: Song Title and Artist can legitimately be empty on Album rows, and iTunes reports albums of ten tracks or fewer as individual track sales, so one album purchase can appear as many Song rows.

What the converter does with it

Every monthly file is normalised into a common schema — period, store, territory, track, units, USD amount — with Downloads and Streams kept distinguishable via Sales Type and Content ID rows flagged. Amounts are summed in exact decimal arithmetic, and the output is a six-sheet Excel earnings tape (Summary, Tie-Out, By Period, By DSP, Top Tracks, full line items) plus a normalised CSV.

About the tie-out: statements with printed totals must have their extracted rows sum back to those totals to the cent. TuneCore sales reports are raw line dumps with no printed totals, so they report as SELF-CONSISTENT — internal checks passed, but there was no stated total to reconcile against. Normal for this format, not a defect.

Frequently asked questions

Is my sales report uploaded anywhere?

No. The parser is compiled to WebAssembly and runs entirely client-side in this tab. Saved history (if you opt in) stores summary numbers only — never the file itself.

Can I combine twelve monthly files at once?

Yes — drop them all, or a zip of them. Each file is detected independently and merged into one dataset, so a full year (or TuneCore plus other distributors) comes out as a single workbook.

Why do I see negative amounts in my report?

Almost always Spotify Discovery Mode commissions, reported as negative Net Sales. The converter preserves the sign and shows the net effect in the Summary sheet rather than hiding the adjustment.

Which column is my actual money?

Total Earned — the USD amount credited to your TuneCore balance after the exchange rate is applied. Net Sales is the pre-conversion store payout in local currency.
